This specimen was lot 1558 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,000 CHF (about US$1,322 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PORTUGAL Königreich, Luis I. 1861-1889. 2000 Reis 1871, Lissabon. Gutes sehr schön. Prägefehler am Rand. (kingdom of Portugal, Louis I, 1861-89, 2,000 réis of 1871, Lisbon mint. Good very fine, Minting defect on the edge.)"
This type appeared after the conversion to decimal coinage in 1836. It was struck 1868-78, 1881 and 1888 and is less common than the preceding type (KM 511).

Specification: 3.547 g, 0.917 fine gold, .104 troy oz AGW, 20 mm diameter, this specimen 3.50 g.
