Zurich 1716 1/2 thaler

This specimen was lot 4650 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$363 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Halbtaler 1716, Zürich. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zürich, half thaler of 1716, Zürich mint. Very Fine-Extremely Fine, Attractively toned.)"
This type was struck 1713-17 and is the first half thaler not extremely rare. Around this time, the thaler was raised from 72 schilling to 80 schilling.

Specifications: 14.3 g, silver, 33 mm diameter, this specimen 13.47 g.
