Sincona sale 46, lot 901

This specimen was lot 901 in Sincona sale 46 (Zurich, May 2018), where it sold for 125 CHF (about US$150 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SPANIEN, Königreich, Carlos III. 1759-1788. 1 Escudo 1780, CF-Sevilla. Sehr schön. (kingdom of Spain, Charles III, 1759-88, one escudo of 1780, Seville mint. Very fine.)"

This type of 1773-81 is the first one escudo struck at Seville since 1739.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.901 fine gold, this specimen 3.32 g.
