This specimen was lot 23102 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Archduke Leopold Taler 1623 Hall, MS63 NGC, a very nice piece with bold details and aged blue-green and amber patina. From The J.G. Collection." This type was struck 1620-25 in numerous varieties (Dav-3328, -3329, -3329V, -3330, -3330V). In addition, other Austrian thalers for 1623 include Dav-A3125, -3103, -3104, -3147, -A3123 and -3078. Quite a challenge for those used to collecting neat rows of Lincoln cents.
