This specimen was lot 327 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (New York, October 2010), where it sold for $402.50. The catalog description[1] noted,
"AUSTRIA. Ferdinand II, 1619-1637. Taler, 1620. Klagenfurt. Tall, crowned bust r. with ruffled collar. Rv. Flat-topped shield on double headed eagle's breast, swords in talons. Pleasing old toning. small planchet flaw at 12:00 on the reverse. VF-35 (NGC)."
Sorting out the Austrian thalers of the seventeenth century is complicated; the SCWC lists eleven types for 1620 alone. This issue, from the Klagenfurt mint, is substantially scarcer than the Vienna or Graz mint issues for 1620.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
Catalog reference: Dav-3114, KM 266.
