Künker sale 263, lot 1961

This specimen was lot 1961 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,100 (about US$1,421 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"KÖNIGREICH HOLLAND Unter Napoleon I. von Frankreich, 1810-1814. 1/2 Franc 1813, Utrecht. R Feine Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (kingdom of Holland, Napoleon, 1810-14, half franc of 1813, Utrecht mint. Scarce, fine patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck in France at numerous mints 1809-14 and a complete set comprises 64 dates and mintmarks. This date is one of the rarest, compounded by the fact that the Utrecht mint struck French coins 1812-13 only and in very small numbers.

Recorded mintage: 6,846.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, plain edge, 18 mm diameter, designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier (1763-1819).
