This decimal penny, or 1/100 of a pound, was introduced as a denomination in 1971. It was struck with this obverse 1985-97 and with this reverse 1971-2000. This specimen is bronze but the denomination was converted to copper-plated steel (KM 935a) in 1992. It was recently revised to show king Charles III (KM 2430) but we don't know if it is being struck for circulation.

Recorded mintage: 793,492,000 + 79,314 proofs.

Specification: 3.56 g, bronze, 20.32 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 935.
