This specimen was lot 6225 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Culiacan. 8 Reales, 1846-CE. Dot after '20G s'. RARE DATE and exceptional quality. One of the finest known of this date. Nice strike, dipped. BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." The Culiacan mint struck eight reales 1846-97 and this first date is very rare.
