The coinage of Jordan began with the issue of bronze and copper-nickel coins in 1949. This type was struck for circulation 1978, 1981, 1984-85 and 1991. It was superseded by a 2½ piastres in 1992.

Specification: 4.75 g, copper-nickel, 22 mm diameter.
