Sincona sale 76, lot 1471

This specimen was lot 1471 in Sincona sale 76 (Zurich, May 2022), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,032 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Franz I. 1745-1765. 1/2 Konventionstaler 1763 KB, Kremnitz. Äusserst selten. Gutes vorzüglich. NGC AU58. Feine Patina. (Austria, Francis I, 1745-65, half convention thaler of 1763, Kremnitz mint. Extremely rare, Good extremely fine, Nicely toned.)"

This type was struck for emperor Francis I during 1751-65 at Graz, Kremnitz (shown here), Vienna, Karlsburg and Hall. The type is common. The Kremnitz mint also struck half thalers for Maria Theresia (KM 370) during this period.
