China 1997 10 yuan KM-1045
This specimen was lot 6120 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabruck, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €360 (about US$501 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"CHINA, Volksrepublik. 10 Yuan 1997. Rückgabe von Hong Kong an China. In Originaletui mit Originalzertifikat. Polierte Platte. (people's republic of China, ten yuan of 1997, on the return of Hong Kong to China. In original box with certificate. Proof.)"
We may note the importance that the regime attached to this event by the mintage of this NCLT, easily ten times the usual issue (ref. KM 1041, KM 1042, KM 1047 as examples).
Recorded mintage: 800,000 plus 88,000 proofs.
