from the Stack's Bowers 2018 ANA sale, lot 44307

This specimen was lot 44307 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $90. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 2 Decimos, 1872. Bogota Mint. VF-25 (PCGS). Slightly soft struck centers with medium gray toning. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type is listed for 1872 from Bogota and 1870-72 from Medellin (KM 155.2). The Bogota mint would abandon this denomination in favor of the twenty centavos in 1874.

Recorded mintage: 24,000 plus 45,000 from Medellin.

Specification: 5 g, 0.835 fine silver.
