Heritage sale 3067, lot 33920

This specimen was lot 33920 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "France: Napoleon 5 Francs 1814-M AU58 NGC, Toulouse mint. Delightfully toned, with interwoven steel, silver, and amber hues, the devices graced at their peripheries by original mint luster." The Toulouse mint also struck five francs for Louis XVIII in 1814.

Recorded mintage: 368,947, a scarce date.

Specification: 37 mm diameter, 25 grams, 0.900 fine silver, .723 troy oz AGW.
