This specimen was lot 7219 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "IRAN. Toman, AH 1299 (1881/2). Tehran Mint. A few light marks. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED." This type, struck AH 1297-1312 during the reign of Nasir al-din Shah (r. 1848-96), was minted to the standard of a French gold ten francs. Gold two, ten and 25 tomans also exist. The coin is priced cheaply in the SCWC but is seldom seen.

Specification: 3.45 g, 0.900 fine gold, .099 troy oz AGW.
