This specimen was lot 216 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €14,000 (about US$18,162 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Johann Georg I. 1615-1656. Dicker dreifacher Reichstaler 1630, Dresden, auf die 100-Jahrfeier der Übergabe der Augsburger Konfession. Brustbild Johann Georgs I. r. im Kurornat mit geschultertem Schwert, unten Wappen//Brustbild des Kurfürsten Johann r. im Kurornat mit geschultertem Schwert, unten Wappen. Von großer Seltenheit. Sehr schön +. Exemplar der westfälischen Privatsammlung „Mehrfachportraits auf Münzen und Medaillen". Exemplar der Auktion Münzzentrum Rheinland 44, Solingen-Ohligs 1981, Nr. 2001. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, John George I, 1615-56, triple thaler of 1630, Dresden mint, on the centennial of the Augsburg confession. Another triple thaler issued in 1630 (Dav-7607) celebrated the wedding of the elector's daughter. This occasion inspired the elector to issue a long series of commemoratives, from one-eighth thaler to twelve ducats.
