The first specimen was lot 5871 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €14,000 (about US$19,484 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Johann Georg I. 1615-1656. Breiter dreifacher Reichstaler 1650, Dresden, auf den Westfälischen Frieden. (Reichsapfel) IOHANN GEORG · D : G · DVX SAXON · IVLIÆ · CLIV · ET MONT - : Der geharnischte Kurfürst steht halbr. auf gefliestem Boden, mit der Rechten das Schwert schulternd, die Linke lehnt auf einem Tisch, darauf Helm//SACRI · ROMANI · IMPERI · ARCHIMARS · ET ELECT (Eichel) Helm über zwei Wappen, umher Wappenkreis. RR Prachtexemplar mit feiner Tönung. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, John George I, 1615-56, broad triple thaler of 1650, Dresden mint, on the Peace of Westphalia. Obverse: armored half-length bust of the elector, holding sword and helmet; reverse: helmet over two shields. Very rare, choice example with fine toning, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

The second specimen was lot 5403 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €10,000 (about US$12,922 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Johann Georg I. 1615-1656. Dreifacher Reichstaler 1650, Dresden, auf den Westfälischen Frieden. Der geharnischte Kurfürst mit geschultertem Schwert steht v. v. zwischen Säulenbüste und Tisch mit Helm//Behelmtes Doppelwappen, umher 20 Wappen. RR Sehr schön +. Exemplar der Slg. Dr. Hartmann. (electorate of Saxony, John George I, 1615-56, triple thaler of 1650, Dresden mint, on the Peace of Westphalia. Obverse: The armored elector with sword on his shoulder stands between a statue on a pillar and a table with helmet; reverse: Helmeted double arms, twenty shields around. Very rare, choice very fine.)"

The elector had ample cause to celebrate the peace of Westphalia, which ended the Thirty Years War. A double thaler (Dav-LS395) and quadruple thaler (Dav-LS393) were issued for the occasion. This rare coin is shown but not priced in the SCWC.
