Saxony 1650-CR thaler Dav-7612
This specimen was lot 1684 in Jean Elsen sale 117 (Brussels, June 2013), where it sold for €190 (about US$300 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, SAXE, Johann Georg Ier (1615-1656), AR Taler, 1650 CR, Dresde. Droit: B. cuirassé à droite, tenant une épée sur l'épaule et un heaume. Revers: Grand écu surmonté de six heaumes. Très Beau à Superbe. (Germany, Saxony, John George I (1615-56), silver thaler of 1650, Dresden mint. Obverse: armored bust to right bearing a sword, helmet at elbow; reverse: large arms with six helmets above. Very fine to extremely fine.)"
This coin was issued by the elector of Saxony in 1638-56 and is one of the common thalers of the seventeenth century.
