This specimen was lot 983 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description^[1] noted, "UKRAINE: Republic, AV 20 hryvni, 2001, Monuments of Ancient Cultures of Ukraine Series - Kyivan Rus, bimetallic issue with 5.74 g gold (.916) center, and 7.8 g silver (.925) ring, struck at the Ukrainian mint, Kyiv, Proof. An Old-Rus feminine adornment is at center; fragments of Kyivan ritual bracelet and the commemorative inscription are on the ring." The hryvnia was introduced in 1996 to supersede the Karbovanets (1 hryvnia = 100,000 karbovantsiv). Its sign is "₴". At present (June 2026), US$1 = 45.07 hryven. Other NCLT's of this series include KM 126/Fr-13, KM 127/Fr-14, KM 128/Fr-15 and KM 175/Fr-17. The Rus were descended from Swedish and other Viking marauders who entered what is now Russia in the 8th century. Kievan Rus' was the first East Slavic state and later an amalgam of principalities in Eastern Europe from the late 9th to the mid-13th century.

Specifications: 14.7 g, bimetallic, center: 5.74 g of 0.917 fine gold, outer ring: 7.8 g, 0.925 fine silver; 31 mm diameter, segmented reeded edge.
