Sincona sale 84, lot 276

This specimen was lot 276 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$135 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 5 Kopecks 1828, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB NG. Good very fine."

This type was struck 1826-31 and is fairly common. It superseded a design which showed the eagle's wings up.

Recorded mintage: 60,000.

Specification: 1.03 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 1.16 g.
