This specimen was lot 41075 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. Republic of Nueva Granada. 1/4 Real, 1846-POPAYAN. Popayan Mint. NGC MS-63. By far the finest graded example for this already SCARCE date. Lovely dusty olive tone throughout, complemented by a slight frosty finish. A compelling little survivor offering an abundance of sharp detail and luster. From the EMO Collection." This type is recorded for 1837-48 and is supposedly common.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 0.68 g, 0.666 fine silver, plain edge.

Catalog reference: EMO-2366.1 (Plate coin); KM-90.1; Restrepo-173.15.
