Colombia 1846-B 1/4 real
This specimen was lot 1446 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $1,573. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA, Republica de Nueva Granada. 1830-1859. AR 1/4 Real. Bogotá mint. Dated 1846. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65. Light even toning overall and a strong strike. Gem BU. The only graded example for this date. Purchased from M. Louis Teller, March 1976." This type is recorded for 1837-48 and is supposedly common. This date is not priced in uncirculated but this specimen realized seventeen times the catalog value in XF.
