This specimen was lot 5316 in Sincona sale 80 (Zurich, October 2022), where it sold for 10,000 CHF (about US$11,985 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton, Doppeldukat 1712, Zürich. Stempel in der Jahreszahl aus 1708 geändert. Very rare. Extremely fine. Minor edge bump." This scarce type was struck 1707-16 along with quarter (Fr-488), half (Fr-487a) and single ducats (Fr-486a). In 1798, the canton of Zurich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.
