Sincona sale 35, lot 5483

This specimen was lot 5483 in Sincona sale 35 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 3,600 CHF (about US$4,274 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Zurich | Stadt, Doppeldukat 1708. Sehr selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Gewellt und Henkelspur. (city of Zürich, double ducat of 1708. Very rare, Very fine-extremely fine, Uneven planchet and mounted.)"

Altho this specimen realized a substantial sum despite the mount mark, this type of 1707-16 is more available than previous double ducats such as Fr-463.

Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 6.88 g.
