This specimen was lot 23586 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $3,290. The catalog description[1] noted, "China. People's Republic gold Ounce 1982 Panda, MS66 NGC, fully brilliant, scarce and popular first year of issue." This, the first panda, lacked a denomination, so is classed as a medal.

Recorded mintage: 16,000.

Specification: 31.10 g, .999 fine gold, .999 troy oz ASW.
