China 1982 200 yuan KM-57
This specimen was lot 2105 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 4,250 CHF (about US$5,723 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"CHINA, 200 Yuan 1982, Shenyang Mint. 8.00 g. Jahr des Hundes, Selten. Nur 2'535 Exemplare geprägt, Mit Originaletui mit Zertifikat, Year of the Dog. Rare. Only 2,535 pieces struck. NGC PF69 ULTRA CAMEO. With original box with certificate."
The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. This design also appeared on a silver twenty yuan (KM 56). Another two hundred yuan, KM 61, was issued for the World Cup.
