This specimen was lot 173 in Aureo y Calicó sale 448 (Barcelona, March 2025), where it sold for 300 € (about US$392 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1600. Felipe III. Segovia. C. 4 maravedis. Very nice. Rare in this condition. EBC+ [choice extremely fine]." This type was milled at Segovia 1598-1602 and is common. At this time, Segovia was the only Spanish mint using the screw press; the products of the other mints were hammered. The assayer's initial "C" is to the left of the castle. This issue also has SCWC catalog number KM 4.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6 g, copper, 27 mm diameter, this specimen 6.63 g.
