This specimen was lot 2571 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 150 CHF (about US$201 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Herzogtum, Georg II. 1727-1760. 1/3 Taler 1743, Clausthal. Reichstandard Feinsilber. Mit der Münzmeistersignatur CPS. Selten. Vorzüglich. Feine Patina. Kleiner Schrötlingsfehler (Rare, Extremely fine, Nicely toned, Minor flan flaw)." The 12 mariengroschen was terminated after 1715. This one-third thaler, which superseded it, was struck 1740, 1743, 1749 and 1751. Another one-third thaler, dated 1743-IBH, featured the wild man reverse.
