This specimen was of lot 24515 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IIII gold 8 Escudos 1806-JP, AU55 NGC, quite attractive with considerable mint luster, soft strike on the coat of arms on the reverse." This coin was minted 1792-1808 and is the most common Peruvian colonial eight escudos. An 1806/5 overdate is noted for the year.
