This specimen was lot 25262 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $3,220. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IIII gold 8 Escudos 1805-JP, MS61 NGC, an attractive coin with well-struck features and full mint luster. There are a few stray contact marks in the obverse fields. Very scarce when certified as mint state." This coin was minted 1792-1808 and is the most common Peruvian colonial eight escudos.
