This specimen was lot 10143 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €3,000 (about US$3,127). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Krone, 1624. Christian IV. NGC EF Details--Cleaned. The 'Corona Danica' took its name from the English Crowns minted by king Christian IV's brother-in-law, James I. Originally a 2 Krone, the people quickly learned of the poor silver content and it was devalued and soon after production was halted. The denomination was only minted in 1618, 1619 and this final year, 1624. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This rare type was struck 1624 only and was worth 1½ speciedaler. "· R · F · P ·" is not a mintmark but the king's motto, "REGNA FIRMAT PIETAS". Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 37.62 g, 0.859 fine silver, 39.5 mm diameter, this specimen is 36.40 g.
