This specimen was lot 10146 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €360 (about US$375). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 24 Skilling, 1624. Christian IV. NGC VF-25. This one-year type is the only 24 Skilling minted by Christian IV in all the realm. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922)." This type was struck 1624 only and was the first and only issue of the denomination until 1731. Throughout the sixteenth century, one speciedaler was 96 skilling; at some point in the 1620's, it was raised to 144 skilling. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.05 g, 0.859 fine silver, 23.2 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-93; Hede-130; Sieg-74; Schou-74; AH-23.14.1; Bruun-5403.
