SB225-10145r.jpg

This specimen was lot 10145 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €720 (about US$751). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 1/2 Krone, 1624. Christian IV. NGC EF-45. Excellent condition and toning for type. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1624-25 along with KM 94 (9.25 g). "· R · F · P ·" is not a mintmark but the king's motto, "REGNA FIRMAT PIETAS". Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 9.45 g, 0.859 fine silver, 24.3 mm diameter, this specimen is 9.31 g.

Catalog reference: KM-95; Hede-128; Sieg-81; Schou-66; AH-23.13.2; Bruun-5393.
