This specimen was lot 10158 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €216 (about US$225). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Skilling, 1625. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. NGC MS-61. Intriguing coin with sharp details. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Johan G. Guildal Collection (Private Sale-1918)." This type was struck 1624-29. Throughout the sixteenth century, one speciedaler was 96 skilling; at some point in the 1620's, it was raised to 144 skilling. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
