Heritage sale 3064, lot 32691
Cuba H3064-32691r.jpg

This specimen was lot 32691 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Proof Piefort "Bastille" 10 Pesos 1989 PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC. A scarcely offered issue celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the beginning of the French Revolution. Showcases lightly toned and highly reflective surfaces, contrasted against satiny undisturbed devices. Selections from the Isaac Rudman Numismatic Cabinet." We have substituted the piefort (KM P17) for the image of the regular issue (KM 240) as they are identical except for thickness. It is a way of creating and marketing a new variety without having to invest in new dies.

Recorded mintage: 500 + 2,000 proofs + 150 of KM P17.

Specification: 26.72 g, 0.999 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 240 (regular issue), KM-P17 (piefort).
