Mexico 1901Mo 5 pesos rev DSLR.jpg

Shown is an 1901MoM five pesos gold piece, of a type struck at Mexico City 1870-1905. The type is also recorded from Culiacan, Durango, Guanajuato, Alamos, Chihuahua, Hermosillo and Zacatecas but Mexico City is by far the most prolific issuer. The 1901MoM is considered a common date.

Mintage figures are not a reliable indicator of rarity for this type due to the accidents of hoarding; many low mintage issues are readily available while other high mintage issues are very rare.

Recorded mintage: 1,071.

Specification: 8.46 g, 0.875 fine gold, .238 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: KM 412.6.
