Heritage sale 3024, lot 25251

This specimen was lot 25251 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $940. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas I of Russia Zloty-15 Kopeks 1836-HГ, MS63 NGC. A seldom offered product of the Russian mint, the quality of silver was less than that of the issues of St. Petersburg resulting in an unusual appearance for this type. Ex Falz-Fein Collection." This issue was struck 1832-41 in St. Petersburg while Poland was under Russian rule (1815-1918). One zloty equaled fifteen kopeks. Russian coinage for Poland ended in 1841.
