This specimen was lot 467 in Sincona sale 78 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 180 CHF (about US$216 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Nicholas I. 1825-1855, 1 1/2 Roubles - 10 Zlotych 1836, Warsaw Mint, MW. Mintage for Poland. 2 roubles according to Ilyin. NGC VF Details. Obverse damaged (?)." Despite Russian promises of autonomy, the czar found the Poles to be the most obstreperous of all his subjects. Major rebellions occurred in 1831 and 1863. This issue was struck 1833-41 in Warsaw and St. Petersburg. Ten złotych equaled 1½ rubles. Russian coinage for Poland ended in 1850.
