Sincona sale 85, lot 1244

This specimen was lot 1244 in Sincona sale 85 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$189 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Sultan Ahmad Shah, 1327-1344 AH (1909-1925). 100 Dinars 1337 AH (1918/1919 AD), Tehran Mint. Copper-Nickel. NGC MS65. Cabinet piece. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 289. One of the finest certified by NGC."

The SCWC lists this type for AH 1318, 1319, 1321, 1326, 1332 and 1337, the latter three dates being struck after the death of Muzaffar al-Din Shah. This was the second smallest denomination struck during the reign of Ahmad Shah.

Recorded mintage: 6,500,000.

Specification: 4.4 g, copper-nickel.
