Sincona sale 78, lot 507

This specimen was lot 507 in Sincona sale 78 (Zurich, October 2022), where it sold for 1,750 CHF (about US$2,098 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Nicholas I. 1825-1855, Rouble 1855, St. Petersburg Mint, NI. 2 roubles according to Petrov. Rare in this condition. NGC MS61." This type was struck 1832-58 in large quantities but is today very rare in nice condition.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver. This specimen is 20.63 g.
