Sincona sale 13, lot 2156

This specimen was lot 2156 in Sincona sale 13 (Zurich, October 2013), where it sold for 2200 CHF (about US$2,846 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "DEUTSCHLAND, Sachsen, Kurfürstentum, Johann Georg I. 1615-1656, Albertiner Doppeldukat 1617. Reformationsjubiläum. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich." This issue is accompanied by a single ducat (Fr-2663).

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 6.94 g.
