This type was struck 1980-82 at Winnipeg and Stuttgart for Israel. This was struck for circulation during the coinage reform of 1980-85. In 1982, US$1 = 20.9 sheqalim. In 1985, the coinage was reformed again with one new sheqel = 1,000 old sheqalim. The new denomination is still in use altho inflation grinds relentlessly at its value.
Recorded mintage: 200,000,000.
Specification: 0.6 g, aluminum, 15 mm diameter.
