Sincona sale 77, lot 2129

This specimen was lot 2129 in Sincona sale 77 (Zurich, May 2022), where it sold for 80 CHF (about US$97 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"GERMANY | Bavaria. Karl Theodor, 1777-1799. 20 Kreuzer 1779, München. NGC MS64. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Charles Theodore, 1777-99, twenty kreuzer of 1779, Munich mint. Uncirculated, Magnificent condition.)"

This type was struck 1778-99 and is common in circulated condition. A similar type was struck at Amberg (KM 557.2) with an "A" mintmark; these are rather scarcer.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.68 g, 0.583 fine silver, 29 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 557.1, Hahn 342.
