The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1786 LM-MI XF45 NGC, Lima mint. Good luster and deep bluish-rose hues of toning towards the peripheries." This is among the more common colonial gold coins of Latin America. Earlier issues of this type (1776-84) were struck in .901 fine gold.
