This specimen was lot 31654 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $1,260. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1786 LM-MI XF45 NGC, Lima mint. Good luster and deep bluish-rose hues of toning towards the peripheries." This is among the more common colonial gold coins of Latin America. Earlier issues of this type (1776-84) were struck in 0.901 fine gold.
