The first specimen was lot 154 in Aureo & Calicó sale 238 (Barcelona, November 2011), where it sold for 140 euro (about US$222 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"1786. Lima. MI. 8 reales. Atractiva. EBC-/EBC (eight reales of 1786, Lima mint. Attractive extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1772-89 for Charles III and supplanted the pillar dollar. A slight debasement accompanied the design change. Assayer MI is recorded for 1780-87.
Recorded mintage: 2,767,000.
Specification: 27.07 g, 0.896 fine silver, .780 troy oz ASW.
