This specimen was part of lot 27639 in Heritage sale 3022 (New York, January 2013), which sold for $558.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "Anne to George II silver coins, various types, average grade VF and toned." The four pence or groat was struck for queen Anne 1703-13 in sufficient numbers that it is fairly common today. During the later eighteenth century it was overtaken by the sixpence and was relegated to the Maundy set (one, two, three and fourpence in silver).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
