This specimen was lot 5022 in Goldberg sale 74 (Los Angeles, June 2013), where it sold for $575 including buyer's fees. The catalog description[1] noted, "Scotland. 5 Shillings, 1705. Queen Anne, 1702-1714. Nicely toned in shades of blue and gold, this is a very rare coin in this grade, despite the somewhat comically crude obverse portrait of the Queen. NGC graded AU-55." This scarce type was struck 1705-06 just before union with England ended separate coinage. This five shilling is about the size of a British four pence or groat.
