Sincona sale 84, lot 548

This specimen was lot 548 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 10 CHF (about US$14 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 1/2 Kopeck 1912, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB. Good extremely fine. Spot."

This is a slightly better date of a type struck 1894-1900, 1908-14. In 1914, Russia plunged into World War One, which conflict would lead to the destruction of the regime.

Recorded mintage: 28,000,000.

Specification: 1.6 g, copper, 16 mm diameter, this specimen 1.69 g.
