Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 1290

This specimen was lot 1290 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $3,172.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guanajuato. 20 Peso, 1900-Go R. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. Mintage of only 4,512 pieces. Sharply struck." This type was struck at Guanajuato 1870-1900 and is a fairly available mint and date, tho this type was not hoarded.

Recorded mintage: 4,512.

Specification: 33.84 g, 0.875 fine gold, .953 troy oz AGW.
