Stack's Bowers 2024 NYINC sale, lot 58397

This specimen was lot 58397 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 2 Pence, ND (1632-39). Edinburgh Mint. Charles I. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, AU Details. From an Old Brooklyn Collection." This type was worth a little less than an English farthing and was struck for Charles I before he embarked on the Civil War. The denomination comes in many types (KM 37, 41, KM 61, KM 66, KM 67, 68, KM 69, KM 100, 114, 130, 137, 138) and was last struck in 1697. Many varieties exist in the style of the crown.
